Armstrong has been cast in a lead role in the pilot opposite returning star Sarah Michelle Gellar. The pilot was originally announced at Hulu back in February. Exact plot details are under wraps, but sources previously said the pilot will focus on a new slayer with Gellar appearing in a recurring role as Buffy.

As we’re told in the opening credits of the early Buffy episodes, in every generation there’s a chosen one. The reboot has officially found theirs. Ryan Kiera Armstrong will star opposite Sarah Michelle Gellar in the untitled Buffy the Vampire Slayer reboot,

Armstrong, who is just 15 (Gellar was 19 when she played 16-year-old Buffy Summers in season 1) starred in American Horror Story: Red Tie before joining the cast of Disney's Star Wars: Skeleton Crew as part of the ragtag group of kiddos who get lost in the galaxy. She's set to star alongside Ethan Hawke on the new FX drama, The Lowdown.
