Dozens of clergy members blocked the entrance to Delany Hall Detention Center in Newark on Monday, saying they would not move until they are arrested.

A mother to two students at Charlotte East Language Academy, who is a former CMS teacher, said in an editorial published by The Charlotte Observer that ICE detained a parent dropping children off on Monday. The apparent arrest has caused the school’s parent teacher association to demand action from the school board.

The Assembly passed the bill requiring cooperation with ICE in March along party lines, and Gov. Tony Evers has vowed to veto it.
